The Blue Anger Series (2020 – Present)
The Blue Anger series, which began in the summer of 2020, consists of paintings created in moments of rage. Sometimes, it was in response to the Nth Room case, a horrific digital sex crime in South Korea.
Other times, it was triggered by the scandal of a prominent politician who, after being accused of sexual misconduct, suddenly took his own life—only for the public discourse to shift toward dismissing criticism of him as political conspiracy, while the victims were forgotten.
I am enraged when the unrepentant evade justice and return to society as if nothing happened.
I seethe when I see the scale of the beauty industry profiting from targeting young girls.
Anger demands energy. It is exhausting, and at times, I want to look away.
These works exist so I do not forget.
When I feel powerless, when I want to give up on anger, I turn to these paintings.
